Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is offering Gazans obscene amounts of money to return hostages.
He’s an idiot.
It’s not that he’s stupid, really. It’s simply that he is — still — unable to understand the enemy. He thinks like a Westerner, and he can’t comprehend non-Western thinking.
Tell me you don’t understand Middle Eastern thinking
without telling me you don’t understand Middle Eastern thinking.
It’s the same thinking that led the idiots in the IDF and Shin Bet to think that raising the Gazan standard of living would pacify them, rather than doing the exact opposite.
Netanyahu is trying to buy their honor. For money. Historians are going to look back on this and wonder what the hell he was thinking.
Offer to build a monument in Israel to Gazans who return hostages, with the names of each person who does so recorded for posterity. Or offer to have their names taught in history books as heroes. Offer them something that will make them feel respected and honored for their actions.
But for the love of God, stop trying to buy their honor.
