As I mentioned previously, the title of this Substack, “Lisa’s Substack”, was just silly, so I need to change it.
I decided on “What Does Lisa Say?”, at least in part, because when I was doing Russian Duolingo a couple of years ago, I got curious and checked to see what my name means in Russian, if anything. That dovetailed with a ridiculous and really stupid fad song that was popular around the same time, and the idea of calling my Substack “Что говорит Лиза?” tickled me. It’s silly, but sometimes I’m silly.
Also, Karen Sinclair suggested, in the comments, that I use “Listen to Lisa”, and I considered softening it to “What does Lisa think?”. Which got me to the silly Russian pun.
I even created a banner for it, but I found out that if I replace the name with a banner, the banner is teeny tiny, and apparently, there’s no way to make it bigger. This is what it looked like:
The quote, btw, is real. I don’t have a link, unfortunately. It was some years ago, but I’ve always taken pride in it.
Anyway, it surprises and gratifies me that anyone cares what I have to say, but since I do have what to say, on any number of topics, I’m not planning on stopping.
Love it, and I’m listening ;-)
